Previously Sponsored Legislation

Senate File 507 - Passed out of committee 15 to 0 on 3/13/07.  A bill for an act relating to joint physical care of children in dissolution cases and establishing a rebuttable presumption that a request for joint physical care is in the best interest of the child.

 

Senate File 127 - Died in Subcommittee

A bill for an act relating to extracurricular school activities and noninterference with parental visitation rights.

HSB 606 creates a judicial presumption favoring joint physical care, which may be requested either during the initial divorce proceeding or through a modification process. HSB 606 has been renamed to HF 2658 after passing in the House Judiciary Committee by a vote of 11 to 9 (voting results)

House File 22 was introduced by Rep. Dan Boddicker and signed into law on May 19, 2004 by Governor Vilsack.   A bill for an act relating to the awarding of joint physical care of a child.   This was a huge step in removing decision making power from judges and will benefit all parents and their children!
